Members,
- The Plovers nesting just up the bank from the right side of carpark Practice Green are being managed by the Airfield Environmental Officer. Just don’t get too close to them and they will ignore you, albeit make a lot of noise. It is expected that they will relocate soon.
- The new native planting area along the LH side of 5th is to be treated as compulsory drop GUR/No Play Zone. The area will be screened (protecting plants from wind) and marked as such soon. As an Abnormal Course condition you get a free drop at your nearest point of relief + one club length not nearer the hole. Please note that your nearest point of relief can be the grass strip between the new planting area and the perimeter fence i.e. not the fairway side of the planting.
The course looked in mint condition yesterday and I thank those that looked after it. There has been a small clean out of the forest area to the left of the 7th so those that go off course may be able to locate their lost ball/s. Thanks to Brett Goodall and the Green Keeping team for their work in this area.
We are getting an increasing amount of members booking a tee time within our Saturday competition (Before 11am) and then pulling out late. If you have no intention to play and are booking “just in case” this is to stop immediately. We have several people wanting to play early on a Saturday and can’t get a tee time till the last minute.
Looking ahead we are looking at a Labour Day Monday competition in the form of a Kiwi’s vs The World and I am investigating whether we can have a pizza night for the All Blacks vs Australia from Wellington on the 28th September. If you are interested in either of these events or would support them please let me know.
Another busy weekend of bookings, All blacks are on and hopefully Lydia Ko is in the final group going for Gold to complete the full set early Sunday morning.
If I have missed anything I am sure I will have it ready to go for the meetings next week.
Matt
