Club Captains Update & additions – Please read

Members,

There are a few things I will cover in this post so please take the time to read.

Firstly the weekend just gone was a Huge success with 110 players taking part in the Par 3 Contest with the Ladies Team taking the spoils.  Thank you to all those that helped out on the day whether cooking the BBQ, doing the bar or helping the team clean up afterwards. We do have potential for another event on Labour Day Monday and then the Melbourne Cup a week or two later.  These events will be put into next years programme with a look to Waitangi Day as well.

Behaviour on the course has been a sore point over the last few weeks please ensure that you repair your Divots and pitch marks, have some patience around slow play and do not hit up on groups in front of you if there is any chance that you may hit someone.  When it comes to practice around the course please do not hit more than one “wedge” type shot into our greens.

18holes…Please ensure that any rounds that are cancelled for any reason are removed from 18holes and if you require more than 3 guests to be joining you on the course that you let me know before booking.  This may happen on a Sunday with permission first as I am present at the course however any other day needs a special request so that I can pass the information on to the Air Force.  Also please stick to the hole that you have booked and the time you have booked (1st or 7th) especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays as they are competition days and we do not want log jams at the tees.  Too many people recently not sticking to their tee times.

If you host visitors you are to ensure that they are not only registered on 18holes but they are also registered in our on course Visitors log at the Hut behind the first tee and that their Green Fees are paid either online or at the hut.  In the event that the Bar is open you can pay there.  If you have any trouble booking visitors please mail me directly…you cannot book visitors on the course before 12pm on Wednesday and 1230 on Saturday’s without permission from myself.  The Saturday will be updated on 18holes to reflect this.

Since Covid and with a lot of new housing in our area golf has become popular and we are about to hit the magic 600 members.  That may not please everybody but we have been asked to “bring the locals onboard” and show a bit of unity in the local area.  We do have space on the course on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with other days being quite busy.  It is time for us to move into the future and not get stuck in the past.

Welcome onboard to all our recent new members and thank you to those that have already done a bar shift or helped out around the club.  We all need to do our bit from time to time to ensure the success of the club.

Finally the card printer is being tested over the next two weeks with a look to have that available once our security doors have been upgraded and a short user guide put up to help those that are unsure how to use it.

Happy Golfing.

Matt

Additions to Club Captain Update

The lost property table is gathering quite a collection if you have lost something on the course it should have been returned to the table outside the men’s handicap Board.

Our latest Hole in One Recipient will be in the clubhouse on Saturday morning after his round if we could have a few on hand to celebrate the milestone and I will do the presentation.

On the new website if we happen to mention carts staying off the course or certain areas of the course that means pretty much any motorised golf vehicle.  I thank those who are walking their trundlers down the left hand path on the 7th to protect our fairway.  This needs to continue thru winter.

Over the next three Sundays the bar may or may not be open on the day as I navigate hosting groups (Henderson RSA on the 14th July) and family birthdays.  Sunday 9 Hole will still go ahead each Sunday check 18holes for timings.

It is my intention with permission from the relevant people to start Tuesday (Early Bird) Twilight last week of August early September with the Sunday (Winter) 9 Hole ceasing the weekend of Daylight Saving and taking a break over the Summer.

Remember to take some Annual Leave from work on Tuesday the 5th November as we host our regular Melbourne Cup Day Tournament.
