Club Captains Update – RNZAF Golf Club “Pride” rules

Members,

A big thank you to those that made this weeks meetings.  The reason for the meetings was that our course was left in a state never seen before between the 1st and 6th August.  Over 50 pitch marks on the first 8 greens alone (on a Saturday of all days) plus rubbish, fruit cores and banana skins and not to mention the state of some of the unreplaced divots.  I understand for some it may have been a little childish on my part but I took over a role where Branko was on the course every day fixing Pitch marks, divots etc and I have a full-time job (contrary to popular belief) and shouldn’t have to be on the course every day cleaning up the mess that has been left by lazy members.  I have a request please that we all take a little bit more pride in our Golf Course and ensure that when hosting visitors that they do the same.

I do not apologise to any of you for taking Pride in our Golf Course and the work I do around it and inside the Clubhouse but I ask please as Members you do the same.  Its called passion for my sport.

Below is the list of rules that were discussed and here are some extra things that have come up during the week.

When practising on the course you can tee off with up to 3 balls (more if there is no-one around) but only one shot is to be played into the greens.

Making sure that all information is correct on 18holes and the course guest register, green Fees paid or annotated how/where paid, cancelling bookings if not intending to play, sticking to your tee times and holes that you have booked on either the 1st or 7th.  I understand this can be difficult on a Saturday where the competition players meet the later players so I ask for patience from all but the Haggle players have priority on a Saturday.

Please email me and not Jeraldine when replying to Club Captain emails.  Jeraldine has enough on her plate.  Email address is thebean1972@hotmail.co.nz

Something that has just been bought up.  If you and your friends are having an afternoon of drinking at the bar please organise transport home as anyone caught over the limit may result in the bar being closed down.  We did have a period of 7 days where the police where patrolling the road outside our course.

Wet weekend ahead expected so please stay clear of the usual wet areas when transiting the course.  No one should be crossing the middle bridge on the 7th.

Thanks and regards

Matt

Everyone is requested to follow the rules concerning taking pride in our golf club.

    1. Repair all pitch marks on and around the greens

    2. Repair all divots where possible

    3. Pick up broken tees around the tee boxes, don’t just throw them away

    4. Clean up after yourself in the practice nets and return the balls to the buckets for the next person to use

    5. Bring your own rubbish and recycling off the course or use the on course bins provided

    6. No glassware or plastic bottles are to be left in the on course bins.  Take them back to the clubhouse

    7. When using a cart, trike or a trundler stay off the areas that have been discussed previously.  No one should be crossing the middle bridge on 7 in the winter

    8. The same can be said of the area between 8 and 15, and around the back of the green on the 15th

    9. Do not hit up on the group in front of you even if you think they are out of range

    10. During quiet times let other groups through if you are slow

    11. Make sure you are playing the right ball.  If in doubt don’t touch it

    12. In the clubhouse give the speaker a little respect and keep quiet during prizegiving and speeches

    13. Don’t be afraid when finished at your table after your round to wipe it down and return all glassware to the bar

    14. Put your raffle tickets in the bin

If we all do a little bit it will allow those that “do it all for us” more time to enjoy their game
