Members,
Happy New Year and welcome to 2026 at RNZAF Auckland Golf Club. We have been busy over the last few weeks with record numbers of people playing our course in the last week. A big thank you to Barbara Goodall who has been out and painted the stakes around staked trees in the last week. Barbara and her husband Brett do a lot of behind the scenes maintenance work around the course. If any member has any skills in the maintenance, landscaping even electrical or plumbing please get in touch with us. You never know what needs to be done around the club.
A big thank you to those that have done the bar or helped out with the BBQ in Lynda’s absence over the holiday break. I understand the BBQ’s have been a big hit with Saturday morning players. Lynda may be absent this weekend and If she is we will need to do one more BBQ on Saturday. The bar is open on Sundays from around 12pm for about 3 hours. I will be taking a handful of Saturdays and/or Sundays off this year to “give back” to my family. Ross De bueger will be supporting Sunday Bar openings in my absences please if you can spare anytime to help out please come down and help.
There will be a working bee on Sunday the 25th January at 7.25am to clean out the creeks again Weed eaters, gloves and gumboots required. We will also clean around the trees on 13 to remove fallen debris. Won’t take long and we can all tee off (those that want to) on completion at 0830 booking sheet is open from 0830. You will notice a few trees missing around the 14th green in coming days this is to allow more air and sunshine in to dry that area out. Throughout the next few months there will be cart path extensions and a few more trees to come down around the course. A sand box has been made and when the buckets arrive we will start using the sand to repair “unrepairable divots” on the course those that can be easily repaired are to be repaired please. The netting will be removed from the GUR on the left hand side of the 5th hole. This area is still to be treated as GUR and nearest point of relief taken.
Daniel has requested the course before 8am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. No one is to tee off before 8am on these days please. The club captain in co-ordination with the programme and the Green Keeper will control start times on a Sunday. At this stage the first start time is 7.23am most Sundays. Please support us in this area as we now have 600 plus members so there is more wear and tear on the course than there was when we had 450 members.
Subs for 2026 are due to be paid by the 31st of the month. If members could get these paid as soon as able it will allow us to get on with 2026 golfing activities sooner. Any member who is leaving the club please get in touch with the treasurer. You need to resign your membership and hand back your pass card. If you have not received this years invoice you also need to inform the treasurer with your email address so this can be sent to you. We do not want to be chasing payments after the 5th February
