RNZAF COMPETITIONS EXPLAINED (in brief).
Essential reading, especially for newer members.
HAGGLES: competitions played on our 3 per week club days and most public holidays.
Saturdays– separate haggles for men ($5) and women ($4). Anyone teeing off before 12.45pm can choose to enter. Say ‘yes’ to the competition shown on the screen when you get a score card. Make sure you say ‘no’ if you don’t want to enter, otherwise you will have to pay.
Tuesdays – ladies day haggles ($4). Open to women teeing off before 9.30am.
Wednesdays – men and RNZAF Sports haggles ($5).
** Please ensure you enter your own scorecard in the kiosk.
OPENING/CLOSING DAY AMBROSE : The course is open all year round, but we have opening and closing days to start and end the competitive year.
6 or 7 person teams. Fun team competition where every entrant gets a prize (even if it is the booby prize!)
Entry fee is $5, and it now counts towards Hamper Day.
HAGGLE BALLS – playing in the completions may win you ‘haggle balls’. At the end of the year you will receive a payout equivalent to $3 per ball (men) or $2 per ball (women). This is paid out in vouchers and some cash.
You can check if you have won balls by looking in the results tab in 18 holes.
HAMPER DAY – our Christmas party day held on the first Saturday of December, for those who qualify by playing a minimum of 25 haggles between opening day and closing day. Win or lose, you can expect to receive a hamper with ham and wine and other goodies worth over $100 after playing 18 holes.
SHOOTOUT – a fun competition played in November with 19 players teeing off the first hole, with one player losing (and dropping out) on each hole.
Qualifying is easy. Simply put in at least 3 cards which are good enough to put you in the top 19. Put your name in the shootout book each time you want your score to count.
Cost is only $20, payable to Kath or Paddy. Cash prizes are paid out to finalists.
PUBLIC HOLIDAY HAGGLES: Look on 18 holes for the competition of the day. These all count towards Hamper Day.
