Ladies Newsletter January 2026

Ladies Newsletter – Opening Day 2026.

Annyeong, Ni hao, Konnichiwa, Kamusta, Talofa, Bula, Privet, Kia Ora and Greetings fellow golfers.

Welcome to a new golfing year, and a special welcome to all our new members. For those new ladies who may not know, our Ladies Club days are Saturdays and Tuesdays..

On these two days we play a haggle, with a $4.00 entry fee, where players can win balls.

The haggle money is paid to Kath Peacock.

We also generally, especially during the summer months, play for one of our numerous trophies.  However, there is no compunction to enter these competitions and, if you wish, you can simply play a round of golf with any of our members.

On Saturdays, simply put your name down on 18 holes. You are eligible to enter the haggle and competition of the day if you start your round before 12.30.  Times after that are for casual players.

On Tuesday mornings, the course is closed for our women golfers from 8 am to 9.30am. After that the course is open to casual players.

On a Tuesday we often gather in the club house for a coffee and chat, and you are all very welcome to join in.

Saturday 31 January is our Club Opening Day for 2026.  We will be playing an Ambrose competition in teams of six. It’s always a fun day and a great way of meeting your fellow golfers, so please come along and join in,

Tuesday 3 February is Ladies’ Opening Day.  Again, we will be making this a fun event with a game played in teams of four.  Please arrive around 8.00 so we can select teams for a shotgun start at 8.30.  Also, please bring a small plate of food to share so we can all gather in the club house at the end of play and have a few laughs over a shared lunch. It’s all about meeting each other and having fun.

Several players have put their names forward for our Pennants teams, but I am always on the lookout for more.

Our Midweek Pennants are played on Thursdays at various North Harbour Clubs, and our weekend Pennants are played on Sunday. If you’d like to know more, or want to put your name forward, please talk to me.

I will put a list of the various competitions we play up on the wall in the Ladies Locker room. To be eligible for these competitions, your card must be signed by a playing partner. Other terms and conditions of competition are on the club website,

Our Eclectic and Birdie Tree competitions start from Saturday 31 Jan.  The Birdie Tree cards are in the wall hanging in the Ladies Locker Room. The Eclectic cards are in the box on the shelf under the mirrors in the Locker room.

As usual, your score must be recorded on the day you play and  be signed by your playing partner.

Please, if you have any questions, just ask me.  If I don’t know the answer I’ll endeavour to find out for you.

Happy Golfing everyone – and let’s hope the weather in February is better than it has been in January.
