Greetings fellow golfers. Welcome to another year of golf.
First – congratulations to our summer competition winners.
The Wynn Wells Net and Putts was won by Jill Ransley on 284 and the runner up is Liz Savage on 285
The Betty Hemming stableford was won by Bernie Pocklington with 127, with the runner up Jill Ransley on 126.
The 2025 competition season starts on Tuesday with the first of our LGU medal rounds.
LGU
LGU stands for Ladies Golf Union. The competition is run at each club under the auspices of NZ Golf which supplies one silver medal and one bronze medal for those with the best net score over four rounds. We play LGU one Tuesday a month and one Saturday a month, but you can only enter on a Tuesday or Saturday, not in both., and you must stipulate you are playing in the competition before you tee off.
We Will be playing two LGU’s this month, just so we can coordinate our Saturday LGU days with the Men’s monthly medal.
We run a putting competition alongside the LGU. As our machine does not record putts, you will need to clearly mark in one of the columns alongside your score, the number of putts you take on each hole, then give your card to Kath.
SHOOTOUT
If you want your round to count towards shootout, remember to sign your name in the shootout book, which will be beside the card machine. There is a one-off payment of $20 to enter this annual shootout. Please pay Kath or Paddy.
ECLECTIC.
The cards for this are in a box in the Ladies Locker room. You must fill in the card on the day you play and get your partner to sign it. You can claim an eclectic score on any day you play.
BIRDIE TREE
Our Birdie Tree has also started, so again, if you get a Birdie, remember to write your name on the Birdie Tree card and get your partner to sign it, Like the Eclectic, you qualify any time you score a birdie at RNZAF.
VAL OCKLESTON STABLEFORD.
The other competition we are playing this month is the Val Ockleston stableford on Tuesday 18th. We will play four rounds of this competition over the next few months. The winner will be the player with the best 3 out of the 4 scores.
PENNANTS
The team for our pennants game at Huapai on Thursday 13th is Louise, Karen, Paddy, Lesley, Anna and Penny. I will also need a team for the 27th of Feb when we play at North Shore. Anyone keen for a free round at another club, please see me.
Paddy also has a team for Sunday 23rd of Feb when we are playing at South Head, but may be looking for another player for the next game on 2nd March at Redwood Park. Again, it is a chance for a free round at another club.
Happy Golfing everyone,
Lesley
