Members Update – New local Rule Mini Programme

Greetings members,
With several new members coming onboard and a lot of questions being asked about certain things here is a wee update:
Please make sure you take a bucket of sand with you when you play the course I am finding divots not sanded around the course and on our tees.  Please also ensure the buckets are returned to the bucket rack on completion of your rounds.  Currently we seem to be missing about 40 buckets.
There is a bit of work going on around the 15th tee box please when you are finished on 14 hug the fenceline whilst waiting to tee off on 15.  Those playing the 14th please take extra care and remember your “fores” as the protection of the bus shelter and trees are no longer there.  A new bus shelter and protection fence will be put up here.
With the 3rd tee box looking good and the 15th tee box being worked on the next hole that may see some work is the 6th.  Look out also for some potential lengthening and widening work on cart paths on 7, 14 and 16.  As we get into some wetter days I ask all golfers to travel along these cart paths until you are adjacent to your ball.
Two new Local Rules.
Bare Ground on a Putting Green is deemed an Abnormal Course Condition.
If a player’s ball is on the Putting Green and there is interference by bare ground to lie of the ball or line of play, free relief may be taken under Rule 16.1d.  Place a ball on the spot of the nearest point of complete relief, which must be either on the Putting Green or in the General Area. Relief is not allowed for interference only with the player’s stance.
Paspalum Stalks on Own Fairway.
If a player’s ball lies in a part of the General Area that is closely mown to fairway height or less on the hole being played, and there is interference to the lie of the ball or area of intended swing by a paspalum stalk, free relief may be taken using Rule 16.1b.Drop a ball in the General Area within one club-length of the nearest point of complete relief, no nearer the hole. Relief is not allowed for interference only with the player’s stance.
The new screen on 8th T Box is within the GUR. If your ball is in the GUR you get the normal relief options i.e. nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole, and one club length from there (not your preferred relief point). If you are not in the GUR i.e. on the T box side and the screen affects your swing or stance you get the same relief as within the GUR. This as the secren is in the GUR, and is also an immovable obstruction. Like all other immovabale obstructions on the course you do not get ‘line-of-sight or line-of-play relief’.
