Whenuapai Challenge Cup –  SUNDAY 18 May 2025

The event where the Civilian members of the club challenge the Military members for supremacy on the course.  Competition over 27 holes of fun and banter.    

Base team captained by our Officer in charge of Golf – Rae Ansell, and club team captained by the Club Captain Matt Christian.

Only register if you are sure you can make it – we had quite a large number pull out at the last minute in previous years and this made it extremely difficult to fill places at the last minute.  

The teams are: RNZAF Base Golfers v’s (RNZAF) Golf Club Golfers

1.    Cost of this tournament is $20 – this covers, breakfast, finger food, and prize giving.  Can you please make payment to me on the day or any time prior  Cash is preferred please.

2.    Sit down breakfast begins at 0730hrs – suggest get to club at 0715hrs and get your gear ready.

3.    The base team will wear Salmon or light red (or any similar colour )  coloured shirts.  The club will wear Blue shirts.  None will be supplied to keep costs down.  So wear your favourite shirt on the day.  

4.   Morning format:
  Sit down for breakfast at 0745hrs   (suggest you arrive by 0730)

  • Team Captains may address their teams  
  • Collect your score cards for the day  
  • Head out to start tees 0830 hrs
  • Start 0845hrs  
5.   Golf competition:
  
3 x 9 hole competition (27 holes):   Played as a foursome – 2 players from the club and two players from the Base.
  • Nine holes of “Canadian Foursomes” (handicap match play – half combined handicap – rounded up if a half)  
    Both players from each team T off, select the best T shot and play alternate shots until holed out.  Play all holes please even if match lost  
  • Nine holes of “Four Ball Best Ball” (handicap match play)  
    Just like playing for the beer – take shots off the lowest handicapper in your group of four, win/lose hole by hole. Play all holes please even if match lost  
  • Nine holes of “Individual Match Play” (handicap match play)  
    One on one – take shots off the lowest player, win/lose hole by hole. No need to play all holes if match lost
6.      Completion of golf:
